Interactive Narrative: the impact of interaction on drama

Curriculum Vitae

Danish - Born 1969.

Simon has worked as a programmer, system developer, production manager, director, teacher and researcher within the field of interactive media. As a researcher he has been dealing with questions ranging from prototype development to social implications of digital technologies. He has specialized within the field of Interaction Design.

Studies at Aalborg University within Informatics. Employed in the early nineties by DRIVE (the Danish Broadcasting Corporations Department of Interactive Media), where he developed programs on Laser Disc and cd-rom and interactive systems for TV and film application.

Since 1995, also active in periods as a teacher at film- and design schools within the field of interactive dramaturgy and interaction design.

1996-1999 he has participated in different price winning cd-rom productions together with Deadline Multimedia, Copenhagen. First as production manager on the large Danish interactive production of fiction, called Blackout (launched in 1997). Since as a part of the core team behind the cd-rom series called CrossTown. Functioned as the production manager on the first title in the series called The Poison (Giften - published in 1998). Later as director and overall responsible for the second publication called The Angel (Englen - published in 1999).

Has been a member of the editorial board of "van Gogh", a forum of sound- and conceptual art since 1997. The group has published two cd-roms and participated at art exhibitions. Participated in “Training of trainers” half year meetings for teachers within new media since 1997, arranged by EU's MEDIA and La FEMIS, a film school in Paris.

2000-2002 he was employed as a researcher in the Narrativity Studio at the Interactive Institute, Sweden. Here he worked on the research projects “Narrative Toys” and “Surveillance and Information Art”. In 2003 he began working for Easy Film, Copenhagen, on cd-rom productions for “International Save the Children” and DANIDA - the Danish governmental organization for help to the third world.
